Incendiary Arrows: not so hot in PvE?
The single greatest strength of [Incendiary Arrows] is the ability to use a prep with it, which allows you to bring [Apply Poison] or [Barbed Arrows].
Add in the burning effect from IA, and you have a pretty damn good degen spreading pressure build.
This is IA's greatest strength.
But who cares about degen spreading in PVE, especially if you already have something like SF or RI in the party?
If you want to spread something in PvE, spread [splinter weapon] or dazed via [epidemic].
Barrage and Volley work better with Splinter Weapon than IA does, they give extra armor ignoring +damage, and Volley doesn't use your elite slot.
Other than a PvP condition spreading pressure build (IA + Apply), I don't see why everyone is so excited about IA.

Because it was a horrible elite and now it is actually somewhat decent.

lolwut? It's good in PvP, other than possibly 4v4 where magebane is still going to be better.
Anyways, it's not super great in PvE, but it's not bad either.

QFT. I'll never forget my first time of getting absolutely raped in the Ring of Fire by about 12 of those fire spider bastards.
BTW I'm not advocating this in any way but you could use [Choking Gas] as your prep to get some sort of mass spellcasting interrupt if that's the part you really miss.

other than BA and Magebane, this is the best pvp ranger bow elite in the game for pvp. Sorry, but condition pressure is still beast, and this does the trick. maybe in a gvg split you would still want BA or Magebane, but if you put IA is deff good shiz

Well rangers are usually interrupts, they aren't the damage dealers. So yeah magebane ftw
But wouldnt skill like [barrage] be better than IA in pve? No prep but combined with [splinter weapon] it can deal some pretty good damages to grouped enemies.

No, they aren't damage dealers. You do know there's a difference between being dealing damage and spreading conditions, right? It's not to directly deal damage, it's to pressure. Why do you think the most popular preparation and 3 out of the 4 popular bow elites deal conditions, and are quite spammable?

Incendiary is good in AB and most of PvP, in PvE i wouldn't take it, except if you had another ranger and make up some seriously mad condition build. Incendiary to supple burning, SF away, epidemic with dazed/barbed/poison/fire, etc.

IA + Ignite arrows + a rit or another character with Splinter weapon is fun.

Same here. Before it was a prep with interruption, constant interrupt so it was a nice change from BHA, and it had degen. Now, it's a possibile replacement from Burning Arrow *previously my favorite ranger elite for conditions*. Degen works good in PvE, and with IA hitting two other enemies as well, it spreads both Burning and Poison.
The only problem with IA is that the burning isn't lasting as long as it does with Burning Arrow.
IA is now a degen version of Barrage. A mix of Barrage and Burning Arrow if you will. Without the additional damage.

I know it's not Ranger-Primary related, but bringing the elite on a Sin with [skill]Disrupting Accuracy[/skill] is nice for interupting multiple foes

Spamming -10 degen on three targets with one skill is awesome in PvP but it still isn't worth using in PvE. Degen is very negligible compared to other common ranger builds in PvE because when you can blow up a mob in a matter of seconds there's no comparison.

[BHA]+[Epidemic] is still better in PvE, yes. But as stated, its damn fun to use in AB. Its my fave of all the updates, and posibly my fave new AB skill.

I dunno man, I just did the math about how much damage the bunring gives you and that's +42 damage with 2 seconds of burning If I did that right. I wouldn't want to be spreading around poison but 3 seconds of burning I can deal with. So three arrows with +42 condition damage + [Ignite Arrows] + someone casting [Splinter Weapon] on you could be loads effective. Won't have the disrupting ability of BHA + epidemic but I think it would have some raw power to it.

[build prof=rt/r channel=12+1+3 mark=12][barrage][splinter weapon][serpent's][no skill][no skill][no skill][no skill][no skill][/build]
assuming 2 seconds of burning (overlap) the Incendiary Arrows build is preferable, for average damage per monster (ADM), against groups smaller than 4 and larger than 8. However, considering that in normal PvE you'll only run into groups of 2-3 clumped together or, if you're farming, groups of 10+, this can be quite beneficial. Using consumables to get Channeling to 17, they deal equal ADM against groups of 12, with incendiary more effective thereafter.
I am not sure how attack speed would affect this, but it could be substantial.

Basically, the biggest issue is Incendiary Arrow's recharge, which notably slows down DPS.

I didn't use IA before the update a lot , used it in a few experimental builds. I like the new IA , I think it's good for PvP , maybe not the best elite , but a good one. Also I saw a few PvE builds with IA+Ignite arrows+Splinter , but it still isn't as good as Barrage+Splinter or BHA+Epidemic imo.

[Choking Gas] + [Incendiary Arrows]
I could see this working, Incendiary would increase the spread of Choking though I'm not certain to what extent.
